My Latest Obsession: Beauty Balms

Best-Beauty-Balms (1 of 4)When it comes to my beauty routine, 2015 will forever be known as “the year of the beauty balms.” To commemorate the occasion, I’m planning on buying even more beauty balms in 2016 because they’re the greatest invention since red lipstick! Let me explain…

Why Beauty Balms?

So you’ve heard of lip balm, but what the heck are beauty balms? Good question! Beauty balms are skincare and makeup balms that have a more gel like consistency than their liquid-y counterparts, usually packaged in small jars.

Skincare Balms:

Skincare balms are known to be multi-tasking wonders, removing makeup, sweeping away dirt, moisturizing and adding a much needed protective layer to your skin. Basically these bad boys do it all, while giving your skin some much needed TLC. Balms are also jam-packed with oils and plant based extracts, from coconut oil, mango butter, jojoba oil, grape seed oil, chia and more, which gives you skin an all natural glow.

But Won’t They Make Your Skin Gross?

While I was a little hesitant at first to slather oily plant-based butter on my face, I was completely amazed how much it’s changed my skin for the better in the past few months. Sure, you’re adding oil to your skin, but since it’s au naturale, your skin basically says “hallelujah!” and takes it all in as a moisturizer vs. more greasy oil. In the winter, it’s become my go-to for moisturizing my skin, and I basically refuse to leave my home without it. Maybe I have a problem, but at least my skin is happy!Best-Beauty-Balms (2 of 4)My personal Faves?

I’ve tried a few over the years, and there are a few that I still buy over and over and over again. Here’s a little breakdown of my favorites {and what they’re especially good for when it comes to cleansing/moisturizing, depending on what you’re looking for!}

Cocovit Coconut Oil Balm: The best product I’ve found for multi-purpose moisturizing, and this little guy comes with me everywhere I go. For the holidays, I bought the smaller size for my girlfriends and they were a huge hit. I smother Cocovit onto my skin in the morning and at night, as well as use it as an overnight hair mask twice a week. The results are pretty darn magical {moisturized skin, reduced wrinkles, clearer skin, etc.} and it smells extra delicious too!

Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm: My girl Elizabeth from Beauty Bets has been my go-to beauty gal over the last few years, so when she released her collaboration with One Love Organics, I knew it was a match made in beauty heaven. The Vitamin E balm hydrates and revitalizes tired eyes {which I always seem to have} and is packed with antioxidants like shea butter, vitamin E, pomegranate and sea kelp. It’s perfect to use to reduce puffiness, smoothing fine lines and nourishing skin.  If you’re looking for any of the above, definitely give this little guy a go – you won’t regret it.

C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve Balm: A golden oldie, C.O. Bigelow’s rose salve has been a cult favorite for decades. I love it as a tinted lip balm that moisturizes and conditions even the driest winter lips, and I make sure to keep at least one in my purse at all times.

One Love Organics Skin Savior: Basically my gateway drug to the balm scene, One Love’s skin savior is pretty much the best when it comes to skincare balms. Just a tiny amount is perfect for cleansing and moisturizing skin, removing makeup, and making your face Beyoncé #flawless. If you’re looking for a balm that can do it all, this product is about to become your new favorite for 2016.Best-Beauty-Balms (3 of 4)Alright, so enough of my blabbering – do you have any beauty balms you swear by? I’m working on my ever-growing collection, so any tips are much appreciated 😉 xx

    I love these type of products. I slather them all over. Literally. If I’m wearing shorts and put it on my legs, my cats will try to lick it off 😀
